Jack and Duncan want to increase their wealth and status, so they make a local plumbing commercial. Soon, Jack and Duncan lose sight of wanting to impress Annie and Mia with their newfound fame when they get too full of themselves.
Jack becomes jealous of Annie's work husband and, out of spite, becomes friends with his husband. Meanwhile, Mr. Mitch becomes Vice Principal, and when he faces mandatory drug tests, Duncan and friends take advantage.
Duncan and his friends visit a Twitch star's private island, only to end up hunted in a viral event for charity. Meanwhile, Jack and Annie look through a photo album and realize Jack spent a night in jail that Annie didn't know about.
At the annual Witch Day Festival, Kimberly mixes up a magic witch potion that actually works, causing Jing to become possessed. Duncan and his friends enter a haunted Circuit City and Jack tries again to finally win Annie a stuffed animal at the milk bottle toss.
Annie is suspended from her job and bonds with a group of birds that ends up invading their home. Kimberly tries to call a boy and Duncan wants to jump to a high branch.
Duncan skips the PSATs to hang out with his grifter Uncle Stan, to the disappointment of Annie and Jack. Meanwhile, Jack, Kimberly and Jing clean the creepy attic to stay on Annie's good side.
Jack coaches Jing's little league soccer team, but when he feels he's too easy on the kids he calls on Duncan to yell at the team to get them to win. Meanwhile, Annie takes Kimberly to work with her after she has a falling out with her friends.
Jing and Jack start a child birthday band together and Annie takes on managing them. Meanwhile, Duncan and his friends try to raise money to buy a massage couch they tried out at the mall, by charging scooters.
Annie battles the city mayor for the town's prestigious Oakie Award, when she refuses to remove the parking boot from the Mayor's SUV. The rest of the family grapples with the fallout from Annie's struggle, when the Mayor retaliates.
Jack and Annie hijack a middle school party thrown by the cool kids, to which Kimberly wasn't invited. They then devise a plan to get the kids to their house, so Kimberly can 'up' her popularity game, but things get out of hand. Meanwhile, Duncan and his friends work on creating a viral video, so they can become the next internet sensations.
Duncan and Kimberly are sent away to therapy camp, so Annie and Jack can get them to stop fighting with each other. With the older kids away, Annie and Jack are left with Jing, who is overwhelmed by all the attention she gets.
Duncan starts racing stock cars to get away from his mom, but it turns out they make a great racing team. Jing demands a room renovation, so she can secretly spend more time with Kimberly, while Jack struggles with the project.
Duncan says the one thing no kid should ever say to their dad, which shifts their power dynamic and forces Jack to confront his own father. Meanwhile, Kimberly and Jing have a window to do whatever they want, as Annie and Jack deal with Duncan's issue.
Duncan avoids summer school for the first time, and the family goes on vacation. On their getaway, Annie and Jack are haunted by another vacation couple, while Duncan agonizes over Mia's Instagram, and Kimberly gets a glow-up.
Duncan runs for class president against Mia, but soon realizes the competition is more than he bargained for. Meanwhile, Kimberly participates in a cookie fundraiser. However, when she pulls a sneaky trick, she quickly learns what goes around, comes around.
Annie feels underappreciate on Mother's Day and adopts Duncan's friend, Wolf, who seems to care more about her than her own kids. Meanwhile, Jack tries to make amends by finding Annie a rare flower.
After realizing their children are too dependent to even be left alone, Jack and Annie decide to implement 'Free Range Parenting,' by giving their kids more responsibility. So, Duncan and Kimberly are tasked with a simple grocery trip.. and somehow wind up in Mexico.
When their local swimming pool is overcrowded due to a heatwave, Annie and Jack share their old swimming spot with the kids. Everything is awesome, until a rich resident buys the land, drains the swimming hole and takes the kids to court for trespassing. Then, Annie's court confrontation with the rich resident leads to her getting her own public access court show.
When all of Jack's customers are stolen by sexy new plumber Bobby Bastille, he quits his day job to follow his dream and write a rock opera. He casts his family and books the town theater for a live performance, which Annie tries to nix. However, Duncan and Kimberly side with Jack, when they think the show might score them points with their crushes.
To celebrate their anniversary, Jack and Annie rekindle the passion of their youth by visiting a 1980s-themed club, before realizing that their maturity might not be that boring after all. Meanwhile, Jing makes Duncan 'marry her,' but their make-believe quickly becomes complicated by real marital problems. Also, Kimberly feels ignored and acts out for attention.
When the family gets a new smart fridge that turns out to be too smart for Annie's liking, she feels replaced. Jack and the kids see no harm in the fridge's increasing invasions of their privacy, until they realize that the appliance company that sold them the refrigerator has questionable motives.
The town celebrates its annual Witch Day, which involves pronouncing a mortified Duncan the 'town virgin' for the big ceremony, but he protests the celebration to impress Mia, who finds it sexist and barbaric. Meanwhile, Annie and Jack steal a dead woman's chili recipe to try and win the celebration's chili cook-off.
Annie ropes Duncan into her investigation of a criminal selling counterfeit goods. Jack ends up making Kimberly and Jing violently ill in his attempt to be a cool dad.
Duncan's friends replace him with Kimberly in their online video game tournament, so he joins the opposition to betray them and humiliate Kimberly. Meanwhile, Annie tries to force Jack to throw out all his old memorabilia cluttering the garage.
